Operation Build a Rocketship in ECS-F
1. Paint
2. Cut out a door
We traced a stool (the object of their choosing) and cut it out with an Exacto knife!
3. We need a window!
The children went around the classroom in search of round/circular objects - they picked the one they wanted due to it's size (it was a round alarm clock!). The children later decided to put a handle on the inside they could open and close the window :)
4. We wanted rocket fins!
We took a piece of left over cardboard in the shape of a rectangle and cut it diagonally. We attached the fins with duct tape, the children held the fin in place and I taped. They then wanted to reinforce it with packing tape - smarty pants :)
4. The final AM group decided to add another window - square shaped this time.
They went around and found different square shaped objects and traced it. Mademoiselle cut it out :)
We had a BLAST!
Next it was time for the PM class to jump in and boy did they get creative!!!
Here are a few pictures from their time building.
They added a control panel, a cone top, and some pretty cool aesthetic accessories with the help from a couple of parents!
The Finished Product - ECS ROCKETSHIP!!!
And yes... I used the word "BLAST" on purpose #spaceunit #projectbasedlearning ;)
